Our Story
Nathan Crum, a lifelong Stocktonian and business owner, was approached by the mayor of Stockton in 2022, asking a number of business owners for help in solving the city's housing crisis. As he had recently lost a friend (that died due to health conditions that went unaddressed once he had fallen into homelessness) and had seen family & friends that had struggled with the mental health issues that can lead anyone into homelessless, Nathan established Fresh Start Charities. Fresh Start's mission is to help those who can’t help themselves through providing housing and services at a fraction of what government programs have historically cost.
" Every person on this Earth is either my brother or my sister. I want people to know they are loved and not forgotten."
Our Goal
AN INDIVIDUALIZED APPROACH
1) Transition off the street and into emergency housing.
2) Transition from supportive interim housing to permanent housing (within six to twenty-four months), equipped with stable housing, employment, and other necessary support.
We celebrate the dedicated, passionate charities that are daily helping individuals reach these goals, but recognize that this is not where we can be of the greatest help. Instead, we partner with local governments and non-profits to provide essential resources. To help them provide a clean environment, medical services, food, case management, and security, we provide housing, offices, guard shacks, and bathrooms. Together we create fully functioning transitional housing communities and provide the environment for these individuals to feel safe, and begin their return journey to independence.
